MRI results - Surgery set for Thursday!

Back to Cincinnati we went for the results. The doctor came in and said "I don't like to tell people scary things but I don't want parents surprised. This is scary. We need to kill this now." Though he said that, he also showed much confidence. He said at the end of the appointment that he is the best person for her. They said lots of hospitals all around the region will not mess with Aneurysmal Bone Cysts (which is what they believe this is (the MRI indicates) - a rare bone cyst). They said they are all sent here to Cincinnati. She will have surgery on Thursday. It will be a biopsy and bone graft. She will have a spica cast put on at that time. Cast will be on at least 6 weeks, maybe longer. Unfortunately reoccurrence is highly likely 80%+ especially because of her age. So she will most likely need this same surgery again in a year or so. She will be monitored for years and years. The blood flow was less than the other leg, indicating some avascular necrosis but will find out the extent in surgery and after. The cyst was so large and aggressive, it also misshaped her bone some but they hope that it will adjust on it's own as she grows.
